Exposed to a Mediterranean climate, it is drained by the Vidourle, the Canal du Rhône à Sète, Canal le Vistre and by two other rivers. Included in the Camargue (Delta du Rhône), the town has a remarkable natural heritage: three Natura 2000 sites (the “Little Camargue”, the “Etang de Mauguio” and the “small laguno-marine Camargue”), four protected areas (the “Bois du Boucanet”, the “Camargue Gardoise”, the “Etang de l’Or” and the Petite Camargue) and twelve natural areas of ecological, faunal and floristic interest.
