City of Béziers
Located on the banks of the Orb, Béziers is, with 78,683 inhabitants in 2020, the second most populated municipality in the Hérault after Montpellier and the fifth in the Occitanie region. It is the central city of the agglomeration which has 94,022 inhabitants in 2020 and its area of attraction, 198,254 inhabitants on the same date. Its Béziers Méditerranée intermunicipality, with its 17 municipalities, has 126,968 inhabitants.
The inhabitants of Béziers are called Biterrois (from Baeterrae, the Latin name of the city).
The reputation of Béziers comes in particular from viticulture, its rugby union team and its feria which takes place every summer around August 15th.
Béziers is a member of the Union of French bullfighting towns
