Collioure is a French commune located on the Mediterranean coast of the Pyrénées-Orientales department. On the historical and cultural level, the town is in Roussillon, a former province of the kingdom of France, which existed from 1659 until 1790 and which covered the three vigueries of Roussillon, Conflent and Cerdagne.

Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Ravaner and two other rivers. The town has a remarkable natural heritage: a Natura 2000 site (the “rocky coast of the Albères”), a protected area (the “Pla de Las Forques”) and eight natural areas of ecological, faunal and floristic interest.

Collioure is a rural and coastal town with 2,400 inhabitants in 2020. It is in the agglomeration of Saint-Cyprien. Its inhabitants are called Colliourencs or Colliourencques.

At the last census of 2020, the town had 2,400 inhabitants.

The town is famous for its geographical site and its heritage, which has attracted many artists.
