Château Fontarèche

A secular vineyard
Fontarèche, which takes its name from the Latin “fonte erecto” (the fountain that gushes), is one of the great historical wine estates of Languedoc.

In the inventories of the archdiocese of Narbonne, we detect the presence of vines in Fontarèche from 1350.

9 generations
In 1682, Château Fontarèche and its wine estate became the property of the Mignard family, whose descendants, the Lamy family, are the current owners of the estate.

An exceptional setting
Château Fontarèche is located in Languedoc a few kilometers from Lézignan-Corbières.

The estate forms a perfect square of 200 ha around the buildings.

160 ha of vines have flourished here, almost always one might say, classified half as AOP Corbières and half as Vin de Pays.

Its location makes it a Château where life is good. The Canal du Midi, the medieval city of Carcassonne, the Cathar Castles or the Mediterranean Sea are only a few kilometers away.

A unique collection of grape varieties…
The alternation of terroirs makes it possible to work on a great diversity of grape varieties.

17 are present on the property. The traditional Carignan, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre in red, Picpoul noir for our rosé and Roussane, Grenache blanc and Macabeu in white.

But certain terroirs of the property also allow us to successfully reveal the qualities of great grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Viognier, Vermentino and Colombard in white, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante Bouschet, Caladoc in red.
